We're leaving good old Chicago in a few hours and I have capered the hotel computer from Chaz. Sucker. We had tons of fun here. Since I have the time to write out a complete entry (but I don't feel like it), here's a bulleted list of things I did and Chaz and I did.

List of things done:
-- #1: My roommate was AWESOME. She works in the Buffalo office and used to be an actress in LA. We're both gaudy, all sorts of fucked up, and had amazingly similar personalities.

-- While Chaz wasn't here and I was hanging with co-workers (most of whom I've never met), we went out to eat at several delicious restaurants. The first night, the COS Mid-Atl. folks decided to be anti-social and went out together. We decided on a delicious Mexican restaurant. Mmmm Mmmm Good. The next night, we went for Japanese which was good, but not amazing - and stumbled upon a rather cheap bar. The only bad thing: the bar had plastic deer heads on the wall. Transparent, plastic deer heads. None of us felt particularly good about the transparent, plastic deer heads. The last night, we went to the Lux Bar. Fancy place. And I was fancy trashed. We all were.

-- Chaz didn't get into town until reasonably late, so we went to dinner at an Italian place that served "world famous" deep dish pizza. Even if they lied, the pizza was amazing and deserved its title. The next day, we went to the top of the Sears tower, saw the amazing view and purchased...get this...TOUR BUS TICKETS. Now for those of us who actually live in cities full-time, we all hate the tour busses that putz through town. In reality, they're quite fun. Since the tour bus let us get on and off all day, we stopped at Navy Pier. Us Philadelphians would consider Penn's Landing really awesome, but Navy Pier trumped P.L a thousand fold. You will see later when I post pictures. We then stopped at Millenium Park. Coolest park, ever. Again, you will see from the pictures. From there, we sat in the park, I played in the fountain and then decided to walk around. We didn't do much today; Chaz is sun-burned, we have a time schedule, and I think we're both kinda sleepy.

Anyway, that's the quick and dirty run down. Chicago seems really amazing - unforuntately, we didn't get to go to the "real" parts of the city. C and I stayed in what would be the equivelant to center city and I stayed in the University City of Chicago with my co-workers. I'm sure we'll come back and see more.

C and I have decided to, by the time we're 30, see almost every big American city. Then, it's off to Europe.

Oh. The important thing!

Chaz's birthday is 7/7/07.

We're having a little get together at our new place.

Date: 7/7/07
Start Time: 7-8pm
End: ?

The house is not all put together yet, but we'd still like people to come over.

Everyone who wants to come, please let me know!!

If you can, I know what it's like to be broke, please bring booze, snacks, or non-booze like drinks. :)

Remember when I told you I hated my landlord? Well, that hasn't changed, but he did decide to settle outside of court. We were awarded the money in ESCROW (two months for myself) and we do not have to pay July's rent. My attorney felt we were being a bit generous, but none of us wanted to go to court - so I'll take what I can get. We're out of there, have a great HOUSE and I've finally been able to sleep without waking up with a stuffy nose or a sore throat. Love you un-moldy house.

Unfortunately, our upstairs neighbor is still stuck with that asshole. I'll do what I can to help her get her money back. I fully intend to screw this guy - even now. Why? Of course I can't stand him - but I honestly think it would be unethical to rent this apartment to another group of people.

While returning our keys to Urban and Bye (the leasing agents) this morning, I mentioned the lawsuit, mold, leaks, floods, Mahmood's negligence, etc. The leasing agent had me write all of it down so he could show the manager. He personally doesn't want to rent it out until it's completely fixed. Hopefully, the manager will give me a ring and we can have a little meeting.

On the subject of good news, I am going, all expenses paid by TPR, to CHICAGO next week! I've always wanted to visit good old Chi-town and now I have my chance. I'm leaving Tuesday night and coming back Sunday. Chaz will be arriving Friday evening and staying with me until Sunday. Cheapest vacation, ever. (Save the fact that Chaz has to pay his airfare and we'll be fronting the money for 2 days in a hotel.)

It's actually an awesome coincidence since Chicago is one of the two or so cities that C and I wanted to visit - why? Because we'd like to get out of Philly eventually. The other is Seattle. Possibly San Francisco. (Holy high property value, Batman!)

So the good news fairy has been gracious in her visits recently. I really don't think anything could ruin my buzz. :)

So I'm peacing out most of next week, but I'll update from Chicago, I'm sure! Ahh! So excited!

Peace, Love and Delicious Deep Dish Pizza,
Amanda

I've been trying to come up with something to say about yesterday's shootings and I can't. I can't find the words. Anything I could ever type here would be inadequate.

My heart goes out to all the students, faculty, and parents. This tragedy has struck closer to home with me than I ever could have anticipated.

Love,
Amanda

Hey Folks,

Hope all you Philadelphians are enjoying the flood.

For the most part, things are going well.

I took off work Friday and tomorrow for a few days of rest. Needless to say, it really hasn't happened. I honestly don't know how there is enough time to physically get everything done. On Friday, I spent the day with Janelle, looked at houses and then watched movies. (Yay.)

Yesterday was the first Clark Park Flea Market of the Spring. This always makes me happy. I did manage to spend money although I knew I shouldn't. I purchased four Tibetan hand-made bracelets. Two for myself - two for Janelle. They're currently acting as nerdy 13 year old BFF bracelets. We like them. I also found a handmade patchwork purse. My old one bit the dust and it was an adequate replacement. I also met rpk and some of the other farmers market and FoCP folks. I do enjoy meeting new people.

We then looked at houses and apartments. We *finally* found one we LOVE. Steph and Janelle are going to see it Saturday and if they like it as much as Chaz and I, we're going to put the deposit down.

I haven't written about the frat boys recently because they've been moderately well-behaved. This all ended last night when I had to curse out their women-raping asses. To the untrained ear, it sounded as though they may have been hazing new recruits. When I finally got their attention, the drunk guy that answered the door actually *told* me they were hazing people in the basement. Seriously. Why would you tell someone who is obviously pissed off that you're hazing? He then had the audacity to let me know that he'd be done "in a minute." For whatever reason, I didn't call the cops. We usually do. I really, really dislike those idiot kids. I have a low tolerance for idiocy as is - but I have an even lower tolerance for most Greek organizations. They combine the two - thus making them one of the biggest pains in my ass.

Speaking of pains in the ass and places to live, we NEED to get out of this hell hole. asap. Again, it's raining not only outside our place, but inside as well. I'm getting sick of our unresponsive, unpredictable, and irresponsible landlord. The leak was again in the computer room and it ruined the carpet we *just* had replaced. I can't even express how god damned irritated I am.

If anyone knows how to legally get out of a lease early, please let me know. We pay all our rent and bills on time and are clean, quiet tenants. The landlord however, is negligent. I don't want to take him to court, but at the same time, he never returns calls, either. I would just call him and ask him if we could leave early with our deposit because of this year's circumstances, but I can't get a hold of him. Whatever. We're out soon.

I hope all is well for everyone.

Peace, Love, and Rainy Apartments:
Amanda.
